Malaria and Medication
Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge is considered to be situated in a low-risk malaria area. Please seek advice from your medical practitioner.

If you take any special medication, be sure to bring enough with you to last the entire visit.

Passport and Visa Requirements
To enter South Africa, all foreign nationals need a passport valid for at least 30 days after the intended date of departure. Ensure that your passport has at least two blank visa pages for entry stamps. Check your country’s visa requirements with the South African embassy.

How To Get There

ACCESS BY ROADAlthough 4 x 4 access is not required, a high clearance vehicle/SUV is recommended for variable weather conditions. The last 12km are on a gravel road.
Due to ongoing roadworks on the R618 between the N2 highway & Nyalazi Gate (West) we recommend that guests travelling from Durban, KSIA, St Lucia or Richards Bay enter the park via Memorial Gate (North). DO NOT USE NYALAZI GATE until further notice. Please use Memorial Gate if travelling from Kruger, Thonga Beach or Kosi Forest Lodge.

DIRECTIONS FROM DURBAN
KING SHAKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT VIA MEMORIAL GATE (3.5 HOURS)

  • Follow the exit signs out of the airport and head north on the N2 toll road in the direction of eMhloti/KwaDukuza/Richards Bay.
  • Please ensure you have at least R200 in cash or a credit/debit card for toll fees. (no Diners/Amex)
  • Follow the N2 for 229 kms to the Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay offramp.
  • Take the Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay offramp to your left.
  • At the stop street turn left on the P453 towards Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.
  • Proceed for 12.9 kms until you reach Memorial Gate.
  • On arrival at Memorial Gate please check-in at the gate reception and present them with your reservation number.
  • Please keep all paperwork that they hand to you as you will need this to exit the park.
  • You are welcome to purchase a map book of the park at the gate.
  • Please drive with care in the park, adhere to the speed limit and do not get out of your vehicle as there are wild animals in the park.
  • It is 28.6 kms from Memorial Gate to Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge.
  • Follow the signs to Hilltop Camp (12.2 kms).
  • Pass route markers 17, 19 and 18.
  • At route marker 28 keep left and DO NOT take the road up to Hilltop Camp.
  • At route marker 12 keep left.
  • At route marker 7 turn right onto a gravel road.
  • Continue on this road for 4.4 kms past route marker 6 where you will pass the road to Thiyeni hide.
  • Shortly afterwards you will see a sign on the right saying RHINO RIDGE.
  • Turn right and follow the signs up to the lodge.
  • On arrival at the lodge please drive down the cobbled driveway and park at the lodge entrance.

 

DIRECTIONS FROM JOHANNESBURG
O.R. TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT VIA MEMORIAL GATE (3.5 HOURS)

  • Get onto the R21 (2 kms).
  • Follow the N12 to eMalahleni.
  • Take exit 539 from the N12 (114 kms).
  • Follow the R544 and R542 to the N11 in Hendrina (66 kms).
  • Stay on the N2 to the P453/R22 (Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay) offramp in KwaZulu Natal (368 kms).
  • Exit from the N2 and at the stop street turn right onto P453/R22 towards Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.
  • Continue to follow P453 for 12.9 kms to Memorial Gate.
  • On arrival at Memorial Gate please check-in at the gate reception and present them with your reservation number.
