CANCELLATION POLICY

We require written confirmation for all cancellations (e-mail or facsimile)
Cancelled more than 60 days prior to arrival: 10% of the full accommodation charge
Cancelled more than 30 days prior to arrival: 25% of the full accommodation charge
Cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival: 50% of the full accommodation charge
Cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival: 90% of the full accommodation charge
All guests shall settle their extras account in full prior to departure

HEALTH & Travel

Before you embark on your exciting adventure, please make sure that all your health and travel requirements are taken care of.

Malaria and Medication
Malaria is endemic on the Maputaland coast, so ask your doctor for anti-malaria medication before you travel. Remember, some medications require you to start taking the medication before arrival.

If you take any special medication, be sure to bring enough with you to last the entire visit.

Passport and Visa Requirements
To enter South Africa, all foreign nationals need a passport valid for at least 30 days after the intended date of departure. Ensure that your passport has at least two blank visa pages for entry stamps. Check your country’s visa requirements with the South African embassy.

Traveling with children

  • Children under 10 years are required to eat dinner 30 minutes before adults
  • Babysitters are available. 24 hours notice required

Children on Game Drives Policy

  • Children under 6 years are not permitted on scheduled game drives.
  • Families travelling with children under 6 years are required to hire a private game viewing vehicle and guide. Pre-booking essential.

Only 1 additional bed can be accommodated per Villa. Additional beds cannot be accommodated in Safari Rooms. Child policy applies to children 18 years and younger.

ACCESS BY ROADAlthough 4 x 4 access is not required, a high clearance vehicle/SUV is recommended for variable weather conditions.
Nyalazi Gate (West) to be used if travelling from Durban, KSIA, St Lucia or
Richards Bay; Memorial Gate (North) to be used if travelling from Kruger,
Thonga Beach or Kosi Forest Lodge.

Map & Directions

KING SHAKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT VIA NYALAZI GATE (3.5 HOURS)

  • Follow the exit signs out of the airport and head north on the N2 Toll Road in the direction of Emhloti/KwaDakuza Richards Bay.
  • Please ensure you have at least R200 in cash or a credit/debit card (No Diners/Amex) for toll fees.
  • Follow N2 to Exit 375, R618. Drive 184km.
  • You will see a brown sign saying Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park at the fly off.
  • Take exit 375 from N2 toward Mtubatuba/St Lucia/Nongoma.
  • At the top of the off ramp, Turn left onto R618 and travel for 24km.
  • You will drive over a cattle grid entering the greater park area.
  • Turn left to the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Nyalazi Gate.
  • Please check in at the Park Office and present them with your Reservation Number.
  • Please keep any paper work that they hand you as you will require this on exiting the park.
  • You are welcome to purchase a map book of the park at the gate. (Please note Rhino Ridge
    is not yet in the Map Book until the Park reprint their book)
  • Please drive with care in the park as not only are there wild animals but the road is in poor
    condition with several potholes which are being repaired.

PREFERRED ROUTE THROUGH THE PARK (31 KMS)

  • Leave the Park Entry Gate and at the first T-junction turn right at the sign which shows RHINO RIDGE 31 kms.
  • Pass Signs 1 (14.8kms) ,2 (0.9kms) and 3 (4.1kms) – continue to Sign 7 (1 km).
  • Turn left at Sign 7 (this is a gravel road).
  • Continue on this road for (4.4kms) past Sign 6 where you will pass the road to Thiyeni hide.
  • Shortly after you will see a sign on the right saying RHINO RIDGE.
  • Turn right and follow the signs up to the lodge.
  • On arrival at the lodge please drive down the cobbled driveway and park at the entrance.


DIRECTIONS FROM O.R. TAMBO AIRPORT JOHANNESBURG VIA N2 & MEMORIAL GATE (6.45 HOURS)

  • Get onto R21 (2km).
  • Follow N12 to Emalahleni.
  • Take exit 539 from N12 (114km).
  • Follow R544 and R542 to N11 in Hendrina (66km).
  • Take N2 to P453/Rss in KwaZulu-Natal (368km).
  • Exit from N2.
  • Turn right onto P453/R22.
  • Continue to follow P453.
  • Enter the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park at MEMORIAL GATE (28.6kms to lodge).
  • Please check in at the Park Office and present them with your Reservation Number.
  • Please keep any paper work that they hand you as you will require this on exiting the park.
  • You are welcome to buy a map book at the park gate (please note Rhino Ridge is not yet marked in this map book until the Park do a reprint of the booklet).
  • Please drive with care in the park as not only are there wild animals but the road is in poor condition with several potholes which are being repaired.
  • Follow the signs to HILLTOP CAMP (12.2kms).
  • Pass Signs 17, 19 and 18.
  • At Sign 28 keep left and DO NOT take road up to HILLTOP CAMP.
  • At Sign 12 keep left.
  • At Sign 7 turn right onto a gravel road
  • Continue on this road for (4.4kms) past Sign 6 where you will pass the road to Thiyeni hide.
  • Shortly after you will see a sign on the right saying RHINO RIDGE.
  • Turn right and follow the signs up to the lodge.
  • On arrival at the lodge please drive down the cobbled driveway and park at the entrance.
